I have been a counseling intern here at Alta Behavioral Healthcare since May 2017. I do individual outpatient, family, and group counseling. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Youngstown State University and a Master’s degree in Experimental Psychology from Cleveland State University. I have research experience in emotion regulation, depression, emotion recognition, and cognitive reappraisal using personality, depression, and anxiety measures. I am a member of The American Counseling Association and have published practice briefs through the ACA on counseling adults and children with bipolar disorders. I am a contributing author on two books, where I have written chapters on counseling children with chronic illness and treating children and adults who suffer from depression, bipolar, and related disorders. I have presented at many national conferences on topics such as emotion regulation, emotion recognition, and creative interventions for non-suicidal self-injury. My research interests are emotion regulation techniques for children and adolescents, trauma, and non-suicidal self-injury. I will graduate in May 2018 with a Master of Science in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor.
