Brian Crisan, M.A.Ed., LPC
I have been working as an outpatient therapist since 2017 and joined Alta in February 2020. My education includes a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, which were both earned at The University of Akron. I am passionate about helping people with their individual mental health concerns and with their relationships. My clinical experience includes work with a variety of demographics and presenting concerns, including work with children and adolescents, adults, people with intellectual/developmental disabilities, couples, and families. In treatment, I favor an integrative approach that combines elements of Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral (DBT), Structural Family Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and play/art-based interventions. In August 2020, I began providing Family Psychoeducation services to clients experiencing their first episode of psychosis as part of Alta’s FIRST program. I have also received introductory training in providing gender-affirming care. Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent over 15 years serving collegiate populations in the field of public safety communications and I have attended crisis intervention training classes alongside law enforcement officers. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, watching independent films, going to concerts, and traveling.
